It was an absolutely beautiful morning in the Learning Garden. This morning the garden club students weeded and prepped two of our raised garden beds and then they got down to sowing our seeds! We planted potatoes and onions in one bed, peas in the other. The students also prepped one of our garden beds so that two of the second grade classes could come out and plant carrots and radishes later in the morning. The second grade seed planting tied into their recent field trip to Fort Christmas, where students learned how farmers grew their own vegetables and lived off of the land. Mrs. Kunkel’s and Mrs. Kelley’s classes also had a tomato tasting as more of our cherry and yellow tomatoes were ready to be picked. Many students raised their hands and volunteered to try a just-picked tomato straight from the vine!
